THE LIVING HOPE
“If we have hope in this life only, we are of all men, most miserable.” 1 Corinthians 15:19.
It is interesting that Christmas gets top billing each year in the holy-day calendar while Easter tends to slide by as an “also ran.” For some reason, we just don’t seem to make as big a deal about the resurrection of Jesus as we do His birth. Now, surely, the birth of Christ was a world-shattering event, God becoming a human being, and it deserves its place in the sun. Yet it is Christ’s resurrection that is the source of the eternal hope for all mankind.
As the apostle Peter wrote, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! By His great mercy He has given us a new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead” (1 Peter 1:3).
Remember that in Adam ALL die yet in Christ ALL will be made alive! (Romans 5:12-19). IS THIS NOT A PHENOMENAL TRUTH!? IS THIS NOT A WORLD-SHATTERING EVENT!?
Jesus is alive today, Alleluia! Because He lives, we know that we shall live also. Christ has risen from the dead! He is alive indeed!
