What is Truth?
This question was once asked by the Roman governor, Pilate, in response to a statement made by Jesus during His trial.
John 18:37, “’Pilate, then, said to Him, ‘Is it not so? You are a King!’ Jesus answered, ‘You are saying that I am a king. For this also have I been born, and for this have I come into the world, that I should be testifying to the TRUTH. Everyone who is of the TRUTH is hearing my voice.’”
It is to this that Pilate, governor of Judea, in a spirit of extreme skepticism and cynicism blurts out, “What is TRUTH?”” Pilate was caught up in the political intrigue that was Rome and he could no longer recognize truth. Also, like many in that day, he had given up all the traditional pagan beliefs with respect to the gods. He lived being filled with superstitious fears and as a result could not recognize the TRUTH as it stood before him in the person of Jesus.
In John 14:6 Jesus has just told the apostles that He is leaving and that they are aware of where he is going and the way to get there. Thomas says that he does not know the way. “’Jesus is saying to him (Thomas), ‘I am the way and the TRUTH and the life. No one is coming to the Father except through Me.’” Listen to the words of Jesus. He is the TRUTH.
THE LORD JESUS CHRIST, THE VISIBLE MANIFESTATION OF THE INVISIBLE GOD, IS THE TRUTH, John 1:1-2, 14! He is being manifested to us through the scriptures.
John 5:39 “Search the scriptures, for in them you are supposing you have life eonian, and those are they which are testifying concerning Me…”
If you desire the TRUTH—READ THE SCRIPTURES, 1 Timothy 4:13.
